Cross Monuments
The cross has been a common cemetery monument since crucifixion was abolished as a form of death penalty in about 350 AD. There are four basic types of Christian crosses: Latin, Greek, Saint Anthony and Saint Andrew. The Latin cross is the most common in this area. Its base stem is longer than its three other arms. The Greek cross has four equal arms, shaped like a "plus" sign. The Saint Anthony cross is shaped like a capital letter "T", while the Saint Andrew cross is shaped like the letter "X". From these four basic categories, there are now more than 100 named variants. Whether you prefer a simple Latin cross or an intricate Celtic cross, Columbus Marble Works has the knowledge and skill to create it. We design and manufacture headstones including crosses of any style.
